Summary: We are looking for an organized and motivated part-time warehouse assistant to join our Facilities team. Hours will be 2 pm-7 pm Monday-Friday. The warehouse assistant will be responsible for cleaning Family Services facilities and keeping them maintained and in good condition. They will also be involved in ensuring inventory is processed, organized, and stored accurately. The assistant will sort, package, and prepare goods for delivery. The assistant food and goods will always be in the right place to achieve maximum efficiency. The ideal candidate is comfortable working on their feet, focused on meeting program needs, and experienced in cleaning offices or industrial locations. The goal is to ensure that Family Services’ facilities are clean, safe, and hazard-free.

Responsibilities:

  • Weekly cleaning of FSTC offices including vacuuming, mopping, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, restocking paper goods, and products, and taking out the trash.
  • Maintaining a clean and efficient warehouse.
  • Assist with food distributions and other distributions as assigned.
  • Operate heavy machinery forklifts and trailers to move, transport, or store inventory.
  • Ensure the workspace is free of debris and removes safety hazards from walkways.
  • Work as an active team member to complete team goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our generous donors and community partners.
  • Assist in preparing documentation and inventory for audits.
  • Operating forklifts, cleaning tools, and other equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Attend community or interagency meetings as assigned.
  • Donation assistance: pick up, sorting, and distribution of public and private donations internally and to other agencies.
  • Maintain accurate data and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Communicate needs, concerns, and ideas to a supervisor or appropriate leadership team member.
  • Adherence to policies related to HIPAA, confidentiality, information sharing, and appropriate use of the agency-client database, and donations.
  • Assist with or carry out special projects or other duties as assigned by Family Services Leadership.
  • Perform all tasks in a safe manner to avoid injury to self and others.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to work independently.
  • Experience: Prior janitorial experience, warehouse operations, inventory control, food distributions, property management, social service or human service experience, donation management, forklift operations, and quality control.
  • Transportation: Valid California Driver’s License, availability of auto for business use, and minimal auto liability insurance as required by law.
  • Additional Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age and receive DOJ background clearance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position typically spends time standing, climbing stairs, walking, driving, carrying, lifting, and transporting (up to 40 lbs.) within CAL-OSHA guidelines and limits
  • Frequent computer keyboard operation, firm/strong grasping, and repetitive hand control. Able to complete all forms of personal writing.
  • Make and receive telephone calls. Use of general office equipment, copier, scanner, and fax machine.
  • Close vision, peripheral vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds such as machinery alarms.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk on concrete for the duration of the shift and complete tasks that include bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Primarily work in the warehouse and are exposed to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, chemicals, mechanical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues throughout the organization in order to model and support effective cross-departmental partnerships, trauma-informed practices, resiliency-building, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with the administrative and leadership team.
  • Remain alert and aware of your surroundings at all times.
