Summary: We are looking for a well-organized and motivated Coordinator for our agency. Coordinators are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating different programs. They must have an excellent understanding of how to manage their projects with strict deadlines while staying within budget constraints by utilizing resources effectively. The Coordinator will assist with training new staff. The Coordinator will be responsible for the smooth operation of the program and working in collaboration with team members to achieve common program goals.

Role Assignment: The current assignment is to provide supportive counseling, information and referrals, and advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault. The assignment will also include providing community education, outreach, and professional training in regards to sexual assault. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring high-quality, compassionate support for survivors, and fostering community partnerships. The Coordinator must provide back-up coverage as needed for the Rape Crisis Hotline and back-up rotation. This will require some travel throughout Tulare County and outside Tulare County at times as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet clients/donors/visitors in a friendly and professional manner and assist them in connecting with the appropriate staff person.
  • Answer the telephone and direct calls to appropriate individuals or take messages as needed.  Answer general questions regarding FSTC and refer to essential community resources as needed.
  • Provide confidential, trauma-informed crisis intervention and counseling services to survivors of sexual assault and their significant others.
  • Provide case management, court preparation, judicial advocacy, and court accompaniment services.
  • Complete information required for client files or service provision records.
  • Complete 40-hour Rape Crisis Counselor Training (provided as in-house and on-the-job training).
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills to manage a case load of up to 100 clients.
  • Must possess ability to understand and appreciate diversity, and to be sensitive to different experiences and lifestyles.
  • Attend all staff meetings, training, community collaborative meetings, committees and task forces as assigned. 
  • Develop linkages and coordination with related service providers.  Carry out public relations and community education activities on behalf of the agency.
  • Provide community education, outreach and professional training in regards to sexual assault.
  • Provide support and coordination for the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)
  • Must demonstrate capacity to be highly organized and detail-oriented; to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English
  • ·Maintain records and submit statistical and narrative reports as required by CAL OES and Family Services.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Rape Crisis Program, ensuring all activities align with the program's goals and objectives.

  •  Assist in the organization and implementation of Sexual Assault Awareness month activities and other special events throughout the year.

  • Maintain regular communication with the Program Manager with reference to program needs and problems.

  • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

  • Maintain open communication with appropriate staff regarding the completion of projects and any needs for additional work.

  • May assist with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; may participate in other fundraising activities.

  • Communicate any problems or concerns with group members or group dynamics to the Program Manager in a timely manner.

  • Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and forums.

  • Adherence to policies related to HIPAA, confidentiality, information sharing, and appropriate use of agency client database.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to self, co-workers, and clients.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: An Associate of Arts degree, certification from a business college or vocational school, or minimum two-year work or volunteer experience that demonstrates relevance to the job duties.
  • Experience:  Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, word-processing, databases, spreadsheets, and graphics required.  Six months experience with a human/social services provider.  Trauma-informed crisis counseling skills preferred.  Knowledge of wide-ranging community resources.  Strong knowledge of issues related to sexual violence, trauma-informed care, and victim advocacy. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Proficiency in data management and reporting. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Transportation: Must possess a valid California Driver’s License, availability of auto for business use, and minimal auto insurance as required by law.
  • Additional Requirements:  Must be bondable. Must receive clearance from the Department of Justice Criminal Record Offender Information database. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Physical Demands & Working Environment

  • Environment: This position requires a mix of office work, direct client interaction, and community engagement. Standard office setting; medical setting; law enforcement office, occasional travel from site to site; occasional exposure to noise, dust, and fumes; stressful calls/situations.
  • Occasional travel is required for meetings, training, and outreach activities.

  • Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting and field environment including travel to various locations; sitting for prolonged periods; standing for brief periods; climbing 3-5 stairs; operating office equipment including a computer keyboard.
  • Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents and to operate the equipment.

  • Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must possess the ability to understand and appreciate diversity, and to be sensitive to different experiences and cultures. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events. Clerical, word processing, and/or office skills. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
