Role Assignment:The current assignment is to provide outreach and prevention programs to youth and adults throughout Tulare County. The assignment will include scheduling and assisting with developing training programs, creating, and distributing meeting notices. Part of the assignment will include providing trauma-informed crisis intervention services during education presentations, outreach, group facilitation, and at the Rape Crisis Center when needed. This will require some travel throughout Tulare County and outside Tulare County at times as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Greet clients/donors/visitors in a friendly and professional manner and assist them in connecting with the appropriate staff person.
- Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate individuals or take messages as needed. Answer general questions regarding FSTC and refer to essential community resources as needed.
- Interest in advancing racial and gender health equity for underserved and marginalized populations.
- Assist in facilitating the Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition and assist with building and maintaining strong partner relationships with community members and partner agencies.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of community-driven campaigns, policies, practices, protocols, or action plans aimed at promoting community and societal-level change.
- Provide prevention presentations regarding the correlation between alcohol/other drugs and sexual assault.
- Provide public education presentations on Sexual Assault awareness/prevention, the Sexual Assault Response Team, the Rape Crisis Center, and services available in Tulare County.
- Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention services during education presentations, group facilitation, and at the Rape Crisis Center when needed.
- Schedule and assist with developing training programs, distribute meeting notices and Sexual Assault Prevention Coalition meeting notices
- Document and report the number of presentations, number of people educated, etc. as required from funders.
- Maintain records and submit statistical and narrative reports as required by funders.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of Family Services’ primary prevention education program.
- Assist with creating and updating educational materials and activities.
- Must demonstrate capacity to be highly organized and detail-oriented; to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English and Spanish.
- Must possess ability to understand and appreciate diversity, and to be sensitive to different experiences and cultures.
- May answer crisis line during office hours.
- Attend all staff meetings, training, and committee meetings as assigned.
- Communicate any problems or concerns with group members or group dynamics to the Program Manager in a timely manner.
- Maintain open communication with appropriate staff regarding the completion of projects and any needs for additional work.
- Complete 40-hour Rape Crisis Counselor Training (provided as in-house and on-the-job training).
- Adherence to policies related to HIPAA, confidentiality, information sharing, and appropriate use of agency client database.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to self, co-workers, and clients.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in social work or a similar field. Two years of social service experience or working with youth and adults in a similar setting may be accepted in-lieu of a degree.
- Experience: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, word-processing, databases, spreadsheets, and graphics required. Experience with a human/social services provider. Demonstrate effective public speaking/communication skills.
- Transportation: California Driver’s License, availability of automobile for business use, and at least minimum auto liability insurance as required by law.
- Additional Requirement: Must receive clearance from the Department of Justice Criminal Record Offender Information database. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical Demands & Working Environment
- Environment: Standard office; occasional travel from site to site; occasional exposure to the sun, moderate heat, noise, dust, and fumes; stressful calls/situations. Requires the kind of teamwork, supervision, and personal interaction, that cannot be had in a home office situation; therefore, regular and predictable on-site attendance is a job requirement.
- Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting and field environment, including occasional travel to various locations; sitting for prolonged periods, standing for brief periods; climbing 3-5 stairs; operating modern office equipment. Work requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical exertion. Lift to 25 lbs.
- Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents and to operate the equipment.
- Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must possess the ability to understand and appreciate diversity and to be sensitive to different experiences and cultures.
