Denim Day
Sexual Assault Awareness Month is here, and we're challenging you to participate in #DenimDayTC by wearing jeans on Wednesday, April 27.
Why denim?
Denim Day is a national campaign that began after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the victim wore tight jeans at the time of the assault.
Participating is simple! Here's what to do:
1) Take a photo/selfie in your denim. (Think jean pants, overalls, shirts, jackets, caps, etc.)
2) Post it with the #DenimDayTC and tag us!
3) Challenge your friends or family to do the same and donate to support Tulare County's Rape Crisis Center. Just $5-$20 can make a significant impact!
Don't forget to share your reason for wearing denim! Copy one of our prompts below or come up with your own.
Day-of prompts:
-Victim blaming has got to go! I'm wearing jeans today because I believe in and support survivors of sexual assault. #DenimDayTC
-We're wearing jeans to raise awareness about sexual violence and help give a voice to victims who have been silenced. You are not to blame. We believe you.
-I'm wearing jeans today in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and @familyservicestc. If you or someone you know needs their help, please call their 24-hour hotline at 559-732-7273.
Before event prompt:
-Join me and @familyservicestc by wearing jeans with a purpose on April 27th for #DenimDayTC. I'll be wearing jeans to put an end to victim-blaming. If you would like to support their Rape Crisis Center, donate at www.fstc.net/saam.
