Position: Parent Educator
Wage: $19.84/hour

Position Summary:
The Parent Educator provides family-centered education and support services to parents and caregivers through evidence-based parenting programs including SafeCare, Nurturing Parenting Program, and Parenting Wisely. Services are provided primarily through virtual platforms such as Zoom, with occasional in-home or community-based visits as needed.
This position works collaboratively with families to strengthen parenting skills, promote child safety and well-being, and support healthy family functioning through education, coaching, and ongoing support. The Parent Educator is responsible for delivering curriculum with fidelity, maintaining accurate documentation, coordinating services, and connecting families to appropriate community resources throughout Tulare County.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide services to assigned families in home and community-based settings.
- Facilitate evidence-based parenting education programs including:
- Safe Care
- Nurturing Parenting Program
- Parenting Wisely
- Deliver curriculum according to program standards, fidelity requirements, and agency expectations.
- Teach parenting classes in both English and Spanish, including a minimum of two classes in English.
- Fill in as instructor for additional parenting education classes as needed.
- Educate parents and caregivers on:
- Positive parenting techniques:
- Child development
- Home safety practices
- Child health and wellness
- Family routines
- Communication and problem-solving skills
- Healthy discipline strategies
- Conduct assessments related to parenting practices, child well-being, and home safety.
- Develop individualized goals and service plans in collaboration with participating families.
- Maintain consistent communication with families and provide ongoing support, encouragement, and guidance.
- Monitor family progress and address barriers to successful participation.
- Connect families with community resources, referrals, and supportive services as appropriate.
- Communicate concerns related to child safety and fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities in accordance with agency policy and state law.
- Complete required documentation, case notes, assessments, attendance logs, and reports within established timelines.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with agency policies, program standards, and confidentiality requirements.
- Accurately record program data and provide weekly updates to supervisors or program leadership.
- Print and distribute certificates of completion for participating families.
- Schedule parents and coordinate placement into parenting classes throughout Tulare County.
- Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, trainings, and coaching sessions.
- Collaborate with internal staff and community partners to ensure coordinated care and support for families.
- Assist with outreach, recruitment, and engagement efforts to increase participation in parenting programs.
- Serve as an active participant in all Goshen Family Center events and activities.
- Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to ethical standards, agency policies, and program expectations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Child Development, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with children and families preferred.
- Knowledge of parenting education, child development, trauma-informed care, and family support services preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
- Position requires late evenings twice a week and some weekends as needed.
- Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required.
- Ability to pass background clearance and mandated reporter requirements.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in a combination of office, client home, and community settings.
- Frequent travel within the community is required.
- Position requires sitting, standing, walking, and driving for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds on occasion.
- May require occasional bending, reaching, and repetitive hand motions (typing, writing, handling materials).
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to meet family needs.
- Regular use of computer, phone, and other standard office equipment.
