Wage: $23.91 - $30.00/hr.

Summary: The Child & Family Therapist provides counseling services to children and adult victims of sexual assault and human trafficking including their significant others. This includes commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC) and youth at risk of exploitation. This position also facilitates support groups for victims of sexual assault in English and Spanish. This position spends time in our Visalia office as well as travel throughout Tulare County as needed. Evening hours may be required, possibly 1-2 evenings availability per week.  

Responsibilities:

  • Assess the psychosocial needs of individuals, couples, family groups requesting service and develop individual case treatment plans, including children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
  • Provide psycho-educational, case management and therapeutic services, including individual counseling, co-parenting sessions, therapeutic reunification, divorce or marital therapy, assessments, family therapy, parenting skills education, referral and advocacy services.
  • Develop and implement specialized therapeutic groups and programs as needed or assigned.
  • If unlicensed, participate in appropriate supervision activity as prescribed by the BBSE. If licensed, individual supervision as arranged with Clinical Manager.
  • Manage a clinical caseload of Spanish-speaking clients by providing individual and family therapy in a nurturing and safe environment.
  • Maintain knowledge of and ability to implement all current mandatory reporting laws that supersede client confidentiality policies: suspected incidence of child neglect or abuse to Child Welfare Services; abuse or exploitation of an elderly person to Adult Protective Services.
  • Maintain and develop clinical knowledge and skill through attendance at seminars or conferences, use of FSTC library, review of current professional journals and other literature.
  • Maintain up-to-date client case records including assessment summary, weekly progress notes, closing summary, consent to treat minors, release of information forms, correspondence, evaluation data, and any other documents related to the case.
  • Contact or prepare any written reports required by referring parties or other practitioners, Court Services, Child Welfare, Probation, Victims Assistance, Mental Health etc., as needed to communicate client's problems/needs, diagnosis,  progress, and prognosis.
  • Adhere to all protocols and office procedures regarding accepting new cases, scheduling appointments, fee policies, treating insured clients and reporting of such in accordance with individual health insurance company, EAP, or HMO policies, and requesting clerical support.
  • Must possess ability to understand and appreciate diversity, and to be sensitive to different experiences and lifestyles.
  • Perform all duties in a confidential and safe manner to avoid injury to self and others.
  • Adherence to policies related to HIPAA, confidentiality, information sharing and appropriate use of agency client database.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:  Master's Degree from an accredited social work, counseling, or psychol­ogy program with emphasis on clinical practice.

Licensure: Proof of licensure with BBS as a LCSW, LMFT, LPCC or registered associate status required

Bilingual in both English and Spanish or multi-lingual.

Experience: Successful completion of graduate field placement required. Must demonstrate knowledge of legal and ethical standards of professional fields.  Previous volunteer or paid work in a human services agency preferred.

Transportation: Must possess valid California Driver’s License, availability of automobile for business use, and at least minimum automobile liability insurance as required by law.

Additional Qualifications:   Must receive clearance from the Department of Justice Criminal Record Offender Information Data Base. Bilingual/bicultural preferred. Must demonstrate special­ized knowledge or interests (e.g. family systems, impact of divorce on children, domestic violence or sexual assault counseling) helpful.

Environment: Standard office setting; occasional travel from site to site; occasional exposure to sun, moderate heat, noise, dust, and fumes; stressful calls/situations.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting and field environment including occasional travel to various locations; sit for prolonged periods of time; stand for brief periods of time; climb 3-5 stairs; operate office equipment including a computer keyboard. Lift up to 25 lbs.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents and to operate equipment.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
